The Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has imposed a curfew on Nalerigu Township and its surrounding areas in the North East Region.
The curfew takes effect from 5:00 pm. to 6:00 am, effective Thursday, December 18, 2025.
This was announced in a statement signed by the Minister, who explained that the decision followed advice from the National Security Council.
In the statement,ย it urged chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, the youth, and residents of the area to remain calm and exercise restraint amid the ongoing challenges. The public has also been encouraged to use peaceful and non-violent means to resolve issues and help restore calm.

Meanwhile, a total ban has been placed on the carrying of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within Nalerigu and its environs. Any person found in possession of such items will be arrested and prosecuted.
The Interior Ministry has also announced additional restrictions, including:

No movement of motorbikes

No wearing of smocks

No sale of fuel in containers

No unlawful assembly
Security agencies have been directed to enforce the curfew and related measures to ensure peace and protect lives and property in the area.
