Chairman of the Church of Pentecost Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah has downplayed government’s decision to sponsor a Christian pilgrimage to Holy sites across the world.

The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has disclosed plans to institute a Christian pilgrimage sponsored by government, to countries such as Israel and the Vatican City.

Sector Minister Kofi Dzamesi believe this would avail to many Christians the opportunity to visit places of importance to the religion.

Speaking to Journalist at the 8th Congregation of Pentecost University College, Apostle Onyinah said government should not be involved in sponsoring people to travel for the purposes of religious pilgrimage.

“If someone wants to travel for religious purpose the person should be asked to pay his own expenses, but if the government opens the opportunity for us and give us the formal way…I cherish that and I thank the government for that”

Apostle Onyinah believes there are pressing developmental issues in the country that beckons attention. It is in the interest of the country for resources that would have been used to pay for people’s personal travels to be channelled towards addressing some of the problems.
