Keli Gadzekpo has resigned as the board chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) effective April 9, 2024.

In a letter to President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday (26 March), Gadzekpo cited personal reasons for his decision to resign.

He thanked the president for the opportunity to serve the country for the past seven years “in this significant role”.

Gadzekpo also wished ECG and the government continued success in the effort to providing stable electricity for the country.

His resignation comes at a time the power distribution company is struggling to stabilize electricity supply across the country and therefore embarks on load shedding.

ECG, however, insists although parts of the country keep grappling with inconsistent power supply, creating disruptions in daily life, it does not need the release of a load-shedding timetable.
