The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a temporary ban on the erection of billboards within the Kumasi Metropolis until further notice.
The Assembly said the decision forms part of efforts to ensure that outdoor advertising operators comply with its regulations and help maintain a safe and orderly city.
In a press release, the KMA directed all billboard operators, owners, managers and persons who rent out billboard spaces to report to the Assembly for verification.
Operators have been given 14 days, starting from Tuesday, September 1, to submit valid permits and proof that they have paid the required fees for the 2026 financial year.
The Assembly warned that billboard structures whose operators fail to provide the required documents within the given period will be removed.
The KMA said the removal will be carried out in accordance with the applicable regulations.
The Assembly has therefore urged all affected operators to use the 14-day period to regularise their operations and avoid possible enforcement action.
Operators have been directed to submit their documents and complete the verification process at the Physical Planning Department of the KMA. The department is located at the Adum Ministries area, near the Ghana Immigration Service Regional Command.
The Assembly said the move is part of its wider efforts to create a safe, organised and properly regulated urban environment in Kumasi.
