Kumasi Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Kojo Bonsu has apologised to the Asanteman Council but it seems his apology came too late.

The Kumasi Mayor on Friday released a statement saying, "I have taken notice of concerns raised by Nananom of the Kumasi Traditional Council over recent developments in the metropolis" and "I wish to render an unqualified apology to Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II and Nananom for any actions and inactions on my part, which may have incurred their displeasure".

But reports emerging suggest that Mr. Bonsu has been relieved of his post despite his apology with the Ashanti Regional Minister John Alexander Ackon expected to act as the MCE beginning Monday July 11, 2016 until a substantive Mayor is appointed by the president.

The Asanteman Council led by the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II barred Mr Bonsu from visiting the Manhyia Palace after he dismissed Amoamanhene, Nana Agyenim Boateng, the Asantehene's representative from the Kejetia market project board.

His inability to respond to a summons to explain his conduct was interpreted as gross insubordination to the chiefs leading the Council to petition the President for his removal.

A government delegation that met with the Asantehene to intercede on his behalf did not yield any positive result considering the decision to sack him which is yet to be made public, ultimatefmonline reported.
