The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully contained a fire that broke out near the Royal VVIP Bus Terminal at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Accra, preventing it from spreading to nearby shops and residential buildings.

The fire occurred on Friday, January 2, 2026, and was reported to the Circle Fire Station at 8:40 p.m. However, due to a faulty fire engine at the station, the call was redirected to Fire Master Control, which dispatched firefighters from the Industrial Area Fire Station.

Fire personnel arrived at the scene at 8:50 p.m. and, with support from the National Headquarters and Accra City Fire Stations, managed to bring the fire under control by 9:08 p.m. The fire was fully extinguished at 11:22 p.m.

Two shops were badly affected by the blaze, though their contents suffered only partial damage. No injuries or deaths were recorded.
