The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who is also serving as Acting Minister for Environment, has arrived in Brazil to lead Ghana’s delegation to the COP 30 Climate Summit.
In a statement released by the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation on Tuesday, November 5, 2025, it was announced that Mr. Buah will deliver Ghana’s national statement at the Summit of Heads of State on Thursday, November 6, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama.
His address is expected to outline Ghana’s climate goals and key priorities as part of the country’s broader commitment to global environmental sustainability.
This year’s Conference of the Parties (COP 30), organised under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is being hosted in Belém, northern Brazil.
The two-week summit, running from November 6 to 21, will bring together world leaders, negotiators, and climate advocates to deliberate on strategies for climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and sustainable development.
As head of Ghana’s delegation, Mr. Buah, who also serves as Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, will participate in high-level ministerial discussions and a series of bilateral meetings aimed at advancing Ghana’s climate agenda.
According to the statement, Ghana’s active participation in the summit underscores its strong commitment to environmental protection, knowledge exchange, and partnership building with other nations pursuing a sustainable future.
The ministry further emphasized that Ghana’s involvement at COP 30 demonstrates the government’s determination to tackle pressing environmental challenges such as coastal erosion, erratic rainfall patterns, and other climate-related threats affecting livelihoods across the country.
COP 30 is regarded as a crucial platform for global climate negotiations, offering countries the opportunity to reaffirm their commitments and collaborate on practical solutions for a greener and more resilient planet.
