Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, Founder and General Overseer of Action Chapel International, has called on President John Mahama to use his renewed mandate to transform Ghana’s economic narrative and unify the nation under a shared long-term vision.

Speaking at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving held on Tuesday at the State House in Accra, the influential clergyman urged President Mahama to seize his second chance at leadership with courage, boldness, and a commitment to economic stability.

“Mr President, within three years, make a difference. Impact this world and change the narrative of Ghana,” Duncan-Williams declared to an applauding congregation.

“Let the Cedi thrive under your leadership. Let the Cedi flourish, and let things get better and better under your leadership like never before.”

The National Day of Prayer, themed around thanksgiving and national hope, brought together political leaders, clergy, and civil society groups to intercede for Ghana’s peace, unity, and economic restoration.

The Archbishop emphasized the need for a values-based national identity, built on patriotism, faith, and unity — not political tribalism.

“We need to develop a strong love for God. Also, love the country and the love for Ghana,” he urged. “We must not allow politics to divide us. It weakens our national progress.”

Calling for structural change, Duncan-Williams proposed the creation of a long-term national development agenda that transcends electoral cycles — similar to 100-year visions seen in countries like China, India, and Dubai.

“Ghana, our motherland, is where our vision and agenda are,” he stated.

“Under the leadership of President Mahama, a national agenda will be established to compel all stakeholders to follow that agenda. That’s how we build a future that outlasts us.”
