President John Dramani Mahama will leave Accra today for official visits to Japan and Singapore, aimed at strengthening Ghana’s trade, investment, and development partnerships.
A statement released on Sunday, August 17, 2025 stated that the President will attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX) in Japan.
He is expected to speak at a plenary session on promoting trade and investment and also lead a Ghana Presidential Investment Forum to showcase opportunities under the “Resetting Ghana” agenda.
While in Tokyo, he will hold meetings with key partners, including the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), officials of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The discussions will focus on trade, infrastructure, technical cooperation, and investment partnerships.
The President will later travel to Singapore for a three-day state visit. His itinerary includes a courtesy call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, a meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and participation in the Africa-Singapore Business Forum. He will also address an investment forum to present Ghana’s reform plans and encourage Singaporean businesses to invest in Ghana.
According to the Presidency, the visits are expected to attract more investment, expand market access for Ghanaian products, and strengthen cooperation in technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development.
