Mob forces thief to drink water from gutter

But for the timely intervention of a Police Patrol team, a 19-year-old suspected thief would have been killed by an angry mob at Kansaworado in the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolis last Friday.

The suspect, who was only identified as Kofi, reportedly entered a room at Sikaduase, a hamlet in Kansaworado to steal around 12 noon.

 He got unlucky and was spotted by a neighbour who raised an alarm attracting many residents to the scene.

The incensed residents who many of whom have suffered several robbery attacks in recent times subjected the suspect to severe beating with clubs, stones and other objects.

Other in an unusual mob action fetched water from a gutter for him to drink while those who were bent on teaching the suspect a real lesson tried setting him ablaze.

A police patrol team after being alerted rushed to the scene to save Kofi and took him to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi where he is currently receiving treatment, according to adomonline.
