Founder and leader of the True Word Fire Prophetic Ministries (TWPFM), Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has described governments plans to build a National Cathedral now, as ill-timed.

Government's plans to build the Cathedral has received some backlash from many including some Appeal court Judges who are being evicted from their homes to allow for the take-off of the Edifice.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Zylofon FM, monitored by PrimeNewsGhana, he called on the need for government to rather invest in other sectors of the economy.

"It is a misplaced priority, it is a good idea but the timing is wrong in the sense that there are a lot of churches around, you go to the hospital there's no ambulance, we have to use that money to build infrastructure for the schools, we have to invest. In every corner in Ghana, there are more churches springing up, day in day out but the timing is wrong,"Prophet Nigel said.

He, however, recommended that the money be rather used to better the free SHS Programme.

"The free SHS, for instance, is a good idea but there's no money to finance it, so why don't we set our priorities right as Ghanaians. About 71% of Ghanaians are Christians and there are so many churches around so why don't we invest in other sectors?" he quizzed.

President Akufo-Addo as part of activities to mark the 60th Anniversary of the country, recently cut the sod for the construction of a national non-denominational Christian worship centre.

According to Akufo-Addo, the lack of such infrastructure in the country prompted him to take the initiative which he said will serve a very important purpose for the Christian community in the country.
