Achimota Senior High popularly has dismissed its opponents St Thomas Aquinas and Nkwatia Presby SHS and made progress to the quarterfinals of the ongoing 2019 National Science and Maths Quiz.
At the beginning of the contest, Nkwatia Presby SHSÂ succeeded with 19pts, Achimota School 18pts and St. Thomas Aquinas, 16pts.

The next stage of the contest which was Problem of the day did not go on well with all competing schools. Achimota School scored 3pts, St. Thomas Aquinas SHS: 3pts and Nkwatia Presby SHS: 0pt
St. Thomas Aquinas SHS had with 28pts, Achimota School 25pts and Nkwatia Presby SHS: 24pts.
Achimota ended the final round of the contest with 31pts, followed St. Thomas Aquinas SHS: 28pts and Nkwatia Presby SHS: 24pts.
About Achimota SHS
Achimota School (formerly Prince of Wales College and School, Achimota, later Achimota College, now nicknamed Motown), is a co-educational boarding school located at Achimota in Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana.
The school was founded in 1924 by Sir Frederick Gordon Guggisberg, Dr. James Emman Kwegyir Aggrey and the Rev. Alec Garden Fraser. It was formally opened in 1927 by Sir Frederick Guggisberg, then Governor of the British Gold Coast colony.
Achimota, modelled on the British public school system, was the first mixed-gender school to be established on the Gold Coast.
The school has educated many African leaders, including Kwame Nkrumah, Edward Akufo-Addo, Jerry John Rawlings, and John Evans Atta Mills all of whom are former Heads of State of Ghana. Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama had his primary education there while former Prime Minister of Ghana, Kofi Abrefa Busia also taught at Achimota. Also included in its list of African heads of state are Zimbabwe's second president Robert Mugabe and Sir Dawda Jawara, the first head of state of The Gambia. An alumnus/alumna of Achimota is known as an "Akora".
Achimota remains the only mixed school ever to win the National Science and Maths Quiz, doing so twice.
