Managing Director of the State Transport Company, (STC), Nana Akomea has said the Akufo-Addo led administration did not equivocate when they laid out a policy plan to introduce Free Senior High School education in the country.
He said when the Free SHS was unveiled as a major policy plan in August 2012 prior to the elections, a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis supported by presentations was made at the Accra International Conference Centre and therefore finds it absurd minority criticism of the policy not being inclusive.
"It cannot be true that Nana Akufo-Addo said everybody was going to get free SHS," Nana Akomea said on Citi Fm Tuesday.
He explained that the policy team at the time which included Prof Gyan Baffour, Prof Fobih and Prof Ameyaw Ekumfi had worked out the numbers and also taken into consideration the relative spike in the numbers which invariably meant a necessity for more teachers to be trained and more facilities to be provided.

The minority in Parliament had criticised the government for not capturing continuing students in the policy which were made up of 285,450 and 279,954 in the second and third year respectively.
But the former Communications Director of the NPP said it was not true that the New Patriotic Party had not been specific on which group of students were to be covered under the policy, adding that: "In any case by year three all students will be covered by the policy. Free SHS will be for all by the third year"

Nana Akomea explained challenges that confronted the roll out were conventional and he expects the difficulties experienced during the implementation to be minimised next year.
"This is a national policy and we intend to make it part of Ghana's national fabric and stakeholder consultation will be held on its sustainability", he said
