The quest of the Wesley Girls High School to win their first National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) trophy came to an abrupt end on Saturday as they failed to make it past the quarter-final stage.

Competing against Kumasi High School (KUHIS) and T.I. Ahmadiyya School, Fomena (Fomena Amass), the Cape Coast-based school which is popularly referred to as Wey Gey Hey was highly tipped to make it to the next stage of the competition.

But at the of the fourth round of the contest, Kumasi High School emerged victorious with 43 points.

Surprisingly, Famous Amass with 39 points beat Wey Gey Hey which had 31 points.

Having led the contest in the first three rounds, the defeat would come as a surprise to many of their supporters.

The win puts KUHIS which is also seeking to win the competition for the first in their second NSMQ semi-final in a row.

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Henry Kokofu who is an old KUHISIAN was present for the contest to cheer his alma mater.
