The Akyem Oda Police have arrested a 24-year-old ex-convict, Eric Asante, alias Kapo, for selling cocaine.

Asante, who had been on the police wanted list for some time now, was apprehended last Thursday while openly selling cocaine behind the Oda Cocoa Depot between Oda Old Town and New Town.

When the suspect was searched, 104 wraps of a whitish substance suspected to be cocaine were found in a black plastic bag concealed in his pants.

The Oda Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mr. F.S. Adikah, said acting on a tip-off, he instructed some personnel of the Police Motorbike Patrol team to search for and arrest Asante.

He said the team managed to arrest the suspect around 2 p.m. on Thursday while he was selling the substance.

According to Mr Adikah, when Asante was searched, 104 wraps of the substance were found hidden in his pants, while GH¢406 believed to be proceeds from the sale of the cocaine was also found in his pocket.

Mr. Adikah said Asante would be put before court as soon as the police completed their investigations.

He served notice to cocaine dealers and armed robbers operating in the Oda area to rather engage in useful ventures, as the police would deal drastically with people engaged in criminal activities.
