108 Ghanaians and Liberians have been escorted to the Kotoka International Airport by U.S officials.
The deportees however refused to disembark from the plane claiming maltreatment from the United States of America government.
The American officials stated some of the deportees were found to have engaged in illicit drug use and sale while others were rounded up for overstaying their welcome.
The detainees also felt aggrieved over being shackled at the ankle and hands on the plane.
Personnel of the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and some officials of the Ghana Airport Company had a tough time before getting the deportees to disembark.
Later, all the deportees were assembled at the arrival terminal where officials of NADMO and the GIS were seen busily taking down their details.
When they were freed, some of them demanded money from the officials present to enable them to pay for their transportation back home to their families in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo Region, Tarkwa in the Western Region, Tamale in the Northern Region and Kasoa in the Central Region.
In the first three months of 2016, about 350 Ghanaians had been deported from various countries around the world as a result of immigration-related issues.
