The founder and general overseer of the Glorious Word and Power Ministry International, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah, has said the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) lost the just ended December 7 polls because they took God for granted and snubbed prayer.

According to him, it was prudent for the NDC party to offer prayers since some bigwigs within the NDC worked against the party's victory spiritually.

Speaking on Neat FM, he specified that some NDC leaders instead of praying and fasting for the flagbearer, President John Mahama and the party, they rather resorted to "powerful" traditional priests for spiritual help with the aim to cause the electorates to at all times vote enormously for the NDC party to be in power.

“I think the NDC lost miserably because they refused to pray seriously to God. They relied on traditional spirits and smaller gods for victory but little did they know that God is above all of us in the country and that is why they lost,”

President Mahama suffered a resounding defeat after he garnered just 44.40% of the total valid votes cast as against 53.85% of his main contender, Nana Akufo-Addo.Majority of the NDC Members of Parliament also lost their seats.

This, according to political pundits, is the worst performance in the history of the ruling party.

Rev. Owusu Bempah prior to the 2016 elections revealed that that the former Attorney General Nana Addo will be given the nod by Ghanaians, although there may be some challenges; adding “some events will occur again and that is what might bring about problems.”

However, the man of God indicated that irrespective of the fact that the NDC prayed, the NDC severely relied on other powers aside God’s for victory.

According to him, if the NDC had taken prayers seriously, there would have been a run off which would make the elections stiff for the NPP.

“If I say the NDC didn’t pray, then I will be lying to myself but the NPP offered massive prayers. The fact is that they took God for granted. If they had prayed seriously and relied on God, we would have had a run off and the election would have been difficult for the NPP,” he said.

Owusu Bempah however believes the NDC lost also because they were so complacent that, they did not realise they were gradually pushing themselves out of government.

“Once the NDC and their cronies were comfortable, they were okay. They forgot it was the people they ignored that placed them where they were and the people could take them out. They believed Volta region would do the work for them but you see how they were disappointed” he thundered.
