Anti-corruption campaigner Sydney Casely Hayford has taken a swipe at Parliament for being in the news again over an alleged corruption scandal.

His comment follows a recent bribery allegation levelled against the Finance Committee of the previous parliament.

Head of Public Affairs, Kate Addo, has said, members of the committee that benefited from the act belonged to the 6th parliament which ceased to function immediately the 7th parliament came into being on January 7, 2017.

Former Chairman of Parliament’s Finance Committee, James Klutse Avedzi, admitted his committee received Ȼ100,000 from officials of the National Lottery Authority prior to consideration of amendments of the National Lottery Act, 2006 (Act 722).

Many Ghanaians including former CHRAJ Boss Justice Emile Short and Lawyer Ace Ankomah have called for independent investigations and the prosecution of sitting or former MP's found culpable

Speaking on Citifm’s News Analysis programme The Big Issue, Sydney Casely Hayford said the Parliament of Ghana over the course of time has developed a bad image in the minds of discerning Ghanaians with such scandalous corrupt practices.

The anti-corruption campaigner, stated emphatically, that he will defend himself with countless evidence if dragged before the privileges committee of the house.
