On Friday, August 15, 2025, Ghanaians bid a solemn farewell to the remaining six victims of the August 6 helicopter crash.

The burial took place at the Military Cemetery in Tse Addo, Greater Accra Region, drawing government officials, the military high command, bereaved families, and mourners from across the country.

An interfaith funeral service was earlier held at Black Star Square for the fallen heroes.

The six laid to rest on Friday were: Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Samuel Aboagye, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

In his address at the state funeral, President Mahama announced the posthumous promotion of eight Ghana Armed Forces personnel who perished in the helicopter crash.

They are Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Squadron Leader Anala was promoted to Wing Commander, Flying Officer Ampadu to Flight Lieutenant, and Sergeant Mensah to Flight Sergeant.

The President described the gesture as a "small but meaningful recognition of their courage, professionalism, and selfless service."

In addition to the military honours, the President announced the creation of a Children’s Support Fund to secure the futures of the victims’ children.

The fund, which has already received an initial GH₵500,000 donation from Stanbic Bank, will cover education, healthcare, and essential living expenses. The government will operationalise the fund within 30 days and establish channels for public and corporate contributions.

"Let us leave our eight comrades today with a promise that their children will not be alone," Mahama urged, invoking the spirit of communal responsibility.

Two of the victims — Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed — were buried on August 10.
