Police arrest 25 suspects in Techiman drug and crime crackdown

The Ghana Police Service has arrested 25 suspects during a special operation aimed at clamping down on drug abuse and criminal activities in Techiman in the Bono East Region.

The operation, which was carried out by personnel from the Techiman Divisional Police Command with support from other security agencies, targeted known crime-prone areas and drug-dealing spots within the municipality.

According to the police, the suspects were arrested for offences including the possession and sale of suspected narcotic drugs, robbery, and other criminal activities that pose a threat to public safety.

Items retrieved during the operation include quantities of suspected Indian hemp, other illicit substances, and dangerous weapons. Some motorbikes believed to have been used in committing crimes were also seized.

The police said the exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to rid Techiman of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents and businesses in the area.

All 25 suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations and will be put before court in due course.

The Police Service has urged the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies by providing timely information to help fight crime.
