The Bono Regional Police Command has arrested 54 suspects in a series of coordinated swoop operations aimed at clamping down on illegal drug peddling, drug use and robbery-related criminal activities across the region.
The operations, which form part of ongoing efforts to rid communities of criminal elements ahead of the festive season, were carried out through targeted, intelligence-led actions by the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (PID), supported by other operational personnel.

The exercise covered several identified hotspots, including Abesim, Banda, Nkrankwanta, Odumase, Dumasua, Wenchi and Dormaa, where police moved in to dismantle suspected criminal hideouts and disrupt illicit activities.
The suspects, aged between 18 and 45, were arrested with various exhibits believed to be linked to drug-related and other criminal activities.

Items retrieved include quantities of tramadol, wrappers of dried leaves and seeds suspected to be Indian hemp, a small crusher, six pairs of scissors, a green tricycle popularly known asĀ pragya, two boxes of matches and a box of cigarettes.
Police say the suspects have since been arraigned before court and remanded in police custody to assist with further investigations.

The Bono Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to ensuring a crime-free festive season and has issued a strong warning to individuals engaged in criminal activities that they will be arrested and made to face the full rigours of the law.
