The Western Regional Police Command has arrested five additional suspects in connection with the murder of John Abban at Asemkor in the Agona Nkwanta District of the Western Region.
According to a police update, the suspects were apprehended at various hideouts within the region as part of ongoing efforts to bring all those involved in the incident to justice.
On Thursday, October 23, 2025, police arrested Kwabena Asirifi, 50, at his hideout at Ampataano, a community near Asemkor.
Subsequently, on Friday, October 24, 2025, the Regional Police Intelligence Directorate picked up three more suspects, James Eshun, alias Abeiku (25), Joseph Aidoo, alias Moree (45), and Stephen Nyame, alias Joe (18), at Abuesi in the Shama District.
Earlier, on October 18, 2025, police had arrested six other suspects at Ahuntumano near Butre, also within the Agona Nkwanta District.
All the suspects have since been remanded into police custody and are expected to reappear before court on October 30, 2025.
It will be recalled that the deceased, John Abban, who was the brother of the chief of Butre and Asemkor, was attacked and murdered on October 6, 2025, following a chieftaincy dispute in the community.
The suspects reportedly fled the town after the incident and went into hiding until their recent arrests.
The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all remaining suspects will be tracked down and brought to justice.
