Police have arrested two suspected street robbers at Dzorwulu after a dramatic chase that ended with their capture and the recovery of stolen items.

The suspects, identified as Stephen Gletsu, aged 37, and Mohammed Sheriff, aged 20, were picked up by a police patrol team after they were spotted riding an unregistered motorbike in the area. According to police, both men were dressed in black clothing and black helmets, raising suspicion. The pillion rider was also seen carrying a cutlass.

When officers attempted to stop them, the suspects allegedly tried to flee, triggering a hot pursuit through the neighbourhood. Police fired warning shots during the chase, causing the suspects to lose control of their motorbike and fall.

The two men then attempted to escape on foot but were quickly apprehended by the patrol team.

A search conducted after their arrest led to the retrieval of several items believed to be proceeds of robbery. These included multiple mobile phones, among them an iPhone 12 Pro, an iPhone 15 Pro, Samsung and Infinix devices, a necklace, and cash amounting to GH¢2,690 and two dollars.

The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
