IGP deploys special operations team to Nkwanta after deadly attacks

The Ghana Police Service has deployed a Special Operations Support Team to Nkwanta in the Oti Region following recent attacks that resulted in deaths and injuries.

According to a statement issued by the Oti Regional Police Command on June 20, the deployment was ordered by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to strengthen security and help restore calm in the Nkwanta South Municipality.

The Police said the special team was dispatched from the National Police Headquarters in Accra to reinforce ongoing security operations and support efforts to maintain law and order while investigations continue.

The Service assured residents of the continued presence of security personnel in the area and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities.

Residents have also been encouraged to provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigations into the attacks.

The Police reiterated their commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring peace and security in the municipality.
