The Greater Accra Regional Police command has denied media reports that the Ayawaso West La Baweleshie Presby polling station shooting, has resulted in the death of one person.

The PRO for the Regional command, DSP Afia Tenge said, “there's some information going out that some 8 people are dead, but that is false. 6 people have sustained some injuries, but the hospital says they are well.”

According to her, "the incident took place a distance away from the polling station and we have personnel already deployed at the stations. Once the incident occurred, a call was made for reinforcements."

Media reports on January 31, the day of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election indicate that one person has been shot dead and others injured by some suspected security personnel.

The incident subsequently led to the withdrawal of the NDC from the by-election.

But the Police service said the reports are not entirely true as no death was recorded from the shootings.
