The Esiama Police have launched a manhunt for four suspected armed robbers.
According to the Police, they received a distress call on July 30, 2025, at approximately 5:30 pm, regarding an attack on a gold-buying shop at Teleku Bokazo in the Western Region, where armed robbers wielding AK-47 rifles and machetes were involved.
The police patrol team proceeded to the scene, finding that the six robbers had fled towards the Salman Community.
During the chase, a shootout ensued, resulting in one suspect, identified as 34-year-old Abdul Rahman, sustaining serious injuries.
Before his death at the St. Martin De Porres Hospital in Ekwie, Rahman disclosed the names of his accomplices, including a suspect named Mohammed.
Initial investigations at the scene revealed that the robbers shot and inflicted cutlass wounds on two shop attendants.
The victims, Samuel Appiah, 29, and Kwamena Nketiah, 45, are currently receiving treatment at the hospital for gunshot and machete wounds, respectively.
Further intelligence-led operations on August 1 led to the arrest of 25-year-old Mohammed Adamu, who is now in police custody assisting with investigations.
A subsequent search of the area where the suspects fled yielded several items, including seven spent AK-47 shells, eight live rounds of AK-47 ammunition, two BB cartridges (with spent shells), an empty BB cartridge casing, and two motorcycle keys.
The Western Regional Command assures the public that all efforts are being made to arrest the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
