Police intercept vehicle carrying suspected narcotic drugs

The Volta Regional Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking following the interception of a vehicle conveying suspected narcotic substances along the Accra-Aflao road on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

In a well-coordinated intelligence-led operation, Police personnel intercepted a black Liberty Jeep with registration number FK692KF near Kpotame near Sogakorpe. The driver, identified as Charles Adenkule, a 46-year-old Nigerian national, was arrested and is currently assisting with investigations.

A search conducted on the vehicle led to the recovery of ten(10) parcels of compressed substances suspected to be cocaine, each weighing approximately one kilogram. The estimated street value of the seized substances is GHC 1,032,650.00. In addition, about half a kilogram of compressed dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp was found concealed behind the inner lining of the vehicle’s boot.
