The Ashanti Regional Police Command has started investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 20-year-old Senegalese, Cheith Toure, in Kumasi.
His body has been deposited at the Ebenezer Mortuary at Tafo, Kumasi.
A statement signed by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Regional Police Command, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, said initial enquiries have revealed that the deceased was sent to the mortuary by an individual identified as Issah, who claimed to be a brother of the deceased.
According to the statement, further investigations at the Manhyia Government Hospital have established that last Thursday, October 16, 2025, the same Issah brought the deceased to the hospital in a critical condition with several abdominal injuries, alleging that the victim had been involved in an accident.
However, hospital records indicate that the victim was brought in dead.
The statement gave an assurance from the Police Command to the public that every effort is being made to thoroughly investigate the matter and bring clarity to the circumstances surrounding Mr Toure’s death.
It urged anyone with relevant information about the matter to contact the Regional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Kumasi, or call the Police hotlines 18555, 191, or 112, or reach out to the investigating officer on 0248483741 to help with the investigation.
