The Ghana Police Service has recovered weapons, ammunition, clothing and other exhibits linked to the Mpohor gold shop robbery, marking a major breakthrough in ongoing investigations.
As part of intensified anti-robbery patrols, officers from the Kuntanase District in the Ashanti Region intercepted a suspicious white Toyota Sienta on the Aputuoagya–Bekwai road. Two men standing by the vehicle fled into the bush on sighting the patrol team.

A search of the vehicle uncovered an AK-47 assault rifle, a locally manufactured gun, two loaded AK-47 magazines, additional rounds of ammunition, cowrie shells, a Huawei smartphone, identity documents and clothing items.
Police say a comparison of the recovered items with CCTV footage from the robbery showed a striking resemblance between some of the clothing, including hooded tops and wellington boots, and those used during the crime.
The recovery, according to police, is a significant step in the manhunt for the suspects.
The Police Administration has commended the Kuntanase District patrol team for their vigilance and assured that other exhibits are being examined as security operations intensify nationwide to track down and bring the perpetrators to justice.
