The Ghana Police Service has retrieved a Toyota Highlander vehicle used in the infamous Adabraka Gold Jewellery Shop robbery that occurred in November 2024.
Police announce the development in a statement on Friday, January 16, 2026.
Police say the retrieval of the vehicle forms part of ongoing investigations into the robbery case.
According to the police, the vehicle was recovered from its owner, suspect Abdul Samid Larry, popularly known as “Touch,” at Ashaiman Lebanon on January 15, 2026.

The suspect was arrested during the operation, while the Toyota Highlander, identified as an exhibit in the robbery case, was impounded for further investigations.
The suspect is currently in police custody assisting investigations as police work to establish his level of involvement and trace other persons connected to the crime.
The Ghana Police Service assured the public that investigations into the Adabraka Gold Jewellery Shop robbery are ongoing and reiterated its commitment to bring all persons involved to face justice.
Background
On November 2, 2024, a high-profile daylight robbery occurred at a jewelry shop in Adabraka, Accra.
A gang of heavily armed and masked men attacked a vehicle transporting cash from a gold transaction, stealing an estimated GH₵7.5 million.
About four to five masked men used a silver vehicle to intercept a red Toyota Corolla near the Adabraka Market.
The robbers fired multiple shots into the air to disperse crowds and scattered some cash to create a diversion during their escape.
The driver of the targeted vehicle sustained injuries during the attack.
On January 7, 2026, the Ghana Police Service arrested two additional suspects, Hamza Agerego (alias Nene Bawku) and Alhassan Elliasu (alias Arab Man), at their hideouts in Ashaiman.
During the latest arrests, police recovered a cache of weapons, including two pump-action guns, AK-47 ammunition, bulletproof vests, face masks, and a CCTV monitor.
A key suspect, Salim Mohammed (alias Fariwata or Bawasam), was apprehended in late 2025 at a hospital in Ashaiman where he was seeking medical treatment.
