The former President, John Dramani Mahama has raised serious concerns about high cost of cocoa fertilizers being sold to cocoa farmers in the country.

According to him, when the NDC was in power, they gave free cocoa fertilizers to the farmers, but this time around, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is selling a bag of cocoa fertilizer for GHS80.

Speaking at the Assin North Constituency in the Central Region as part of his flagberership campaign tour to the Region, former President Mahama said the high price of cocoa fertilizer is not helping farmers across the country.

NDC party supporters, constituency and branch executives in the region trooped to various constituencies he toured to canvas votes for his bid to lead the NDC in the 2020 elections.

He explained that the NPP, led by Nana Akufo-Addo, has failed the people of this nation.

President Mahama said before the 2016 general elections, President Akufo-Addo, then in opposition, promised to reduce the fuel prices if elected as the President of Ghana, yet fuel prices are being increased daily under the watch of Nana Akufo-Addo as the President of Ghana.

The former President commended the new and old executives of the NDC, including the branch executives, for their hard work during constituency and branch executives’ elections.
