The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has dismissed media reports claiming that Kevin Okyere, Chief Executive Officer of Springfield Energy, has been arrested or detained in Dubai.
In a statement issued on Sunday, November 2, 2025, EOCO described the publication by the online news portal Novareport as “false” and “misleading,” urging the public to disregard it.
According to the Office, it is currently conducting two separate investigations involving Springfield Energy — one based on a petition against the company and another concerning an ongoing dispute between Springfield and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST).
EOCO clarified that, as a matter of policy, investigations must precede arrests, and therefore, any suggestion that its inaction has led to the alleged detention of Mr. Okyere is unfounded.
“We wish to emphasize that the case involving BOST and Springfield is of priority to EOCO due to its immediate impact on BOST’s finances and the local economy,” the statement said.
The Office expressed disappointment that Novareport did not seek clarification before publishing the story and reaffirmed its commitment to diligently investigating and prosecuting economic and organized crimes in Ghana.
“EOCO assures the public that it is committed to investigating and prosecuting economic and organized crimes in Ghana, and we will continue to work diligently to achieve our mandate,” the statement concluded.
The Office urged Ghanaians to disregard the false publication and remain confident that the investigations are ongoing.
