Salaga Violence: NDC members arrested are innocent - Comm. Director

NDC Communications Officer for Salaga South Constituency Yakubu Abubakar says NDC members arrested in regards to the violence in Salaga are innocent.

 

Starr FM in an interview with the NDC Communications Officer for Salaga South Constituency Yakubu Abubakar he revealed that the members are innocent.

''When the police came to do their arrest, they came around 1: am and went to the various houses of the NDC members and picked them and I can tell you those they picked are innocent about the whole rampage and they also picked some of the children of our Sheikh'' he stated.

This ensued in connection with the burning of the NPP party office after Damango was named regional capital for the Savannah region.

 On Tuesday, February 12 the President named Damango as the capital for the Savannah region and Nalerigu as the capital of the North East region. The President charged the Northern regional minister, Alhaji Salifu Saeed to act as the senior messenger for the two regions until a substantive minister is appointed.

Meanwhile, there was recorded cases of violence in Salaga following the announcement that Damango is the new capital for the Savannah region by President Akufo Addo.

The Salaga youth also besieged the Salaga Police Station for the release of seven persons who were arrested yesterday in connection with the violence that erupted.
