The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has invited the Chief Executive Officer of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, for questioning.
This follows his public revelation that he rejected a GH¢4 million bribe allegedly offered to halt the implementation of the new Digitalised Vehicle Registration Plate (DP) policy.
In a recent media interview, Mr. Kotey disclosed that some influential individuals attempted to persuade him to abandon the digital plate initiative, which is designed to curb vehicle-related fraud and enhance road safety.
In a statement, the OSP confirmed that it is seeking further details from the DVLA boss to verify his claims and identify the persons behind the alleged bribery attempt.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the OSP has begun investigations into a sitting member of the Council of State over alleged corruption and corruption-related offences connected to gold trading activities.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the probe focuses on allegations that the Council member used his position to influence the granting of a gold licence to a company in which he reportedly has undisclosed business interests.
