Sugardemministries in collaboration with the Friends of Children in their bid to improve lives and promote harmonious living in the communities have painted Gavinakrom D/A Primary School, near Teacher Mantey in the Eastern Region.

Hunger Project -Ghana, a non-governmental organization built the school in Gavinakrom few years ago which provides education to children in the area and surrounding villages.

As part of their revamp in 2018, Sugardemmnistries painted the facility themselves to prove that one doesn’t need to be masculine to be strong.

Founder of the group, Nana Ama Asantewaa Kwarko, told journalists that they did not hesitate on taking on the project when they were approached because it goes in line with their tagline “Strong but Feminine”.

“Since we believe in women empowerment, we didn’t glance over our shoulders when we were approached for this project. We decided to paint the school ourselves so most people can notice the capabilities of women and acknowledge the necessary roles women can play in the development of our communities and our nations”, she said.

Spokesperson for Sugardemmnistries, Kate Acheampong noted that the painting of Govinakrom D/A was their first project and that they will continue working with other organizations to paint more schools throughout the country.

The Chief of Teacher Mantey, Nana Kwakuvi I commended the efforts of the partners for making the project successful.

“One thing you must always remember is that this nicely painted school will always be yours”, he told the school children gathered at the event.

He called on the government and other NGOs to build more classrooms in order to have more children in the area attend school.
