A police officer has allegedly assaulted and stripped naked a taxi driver for flouring road traffic regulations.

Kwabena Danso was apprehended by the policeman with service number 36832 he (the driver) after he jumped a red light.

Narrating the incident on StarrFm, Danso said the traffic light is known to motorist on that route to be faulty, it is often on amber or switching between red and amber in short intervals. Motorist like himself therefore ignore the light on a regular basis.

On Wednesday however, the policeman stationed at the Anyaa police station apprehended him at a filling station after he crossed the traffic light and placed him under arrest.

His explanations fell on deaf ears, and so he asked the officer to join the vehicle to the police station. The officer is said to have refused, insisting Danso should abandons his taxi and passengers and then walk with him to the station.

According to Danso, “This resulted in an altercation and suddenly he held my shirt and began pulling and squeezing me by the neck. I restrained myself because of his uniform, but he went beyond his boundaries when I realised my dress was torn in the process. I was expecting him to give me some level of respect when it was left with my boxer shorts on, but he didn’t and kept stretching that too until I was stark naked in public,”

Danso said he had to go to a nearby shop to get a new attire to cover his nakedness. He claims to be suffering from severe pain on the forehead, shoulders and in the chest as a result of the scuffle.

The law enforcement agent left the scene and never pursued the case again.
