Three people have been confirmed dead following a fatal motor accident involving a fuel tanker on the Suhum–Nsawam Highway on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

According to the Eastern South Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service, the tanker, which was transporting petrol from Tema to Kumasi, was involved in an accident near Ntoaso on the Accra–Suhum dual carriageway.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to a blast. Fuel reportedly splashed onto vehicles behind the tanker, triggering a fire.

In total, six vehicles and four motorcycles were burnt in the incident.

Police said two unidentified male charred bodies were found at the scene, while another unidentified body was discovered in one of the burnt vehicles.

About four persons who sustained injuries from the explosion were rushed to nearby health facilities for medical treatment.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service from Suhum and Nsawam responded to the scene to douse the fire, while police have begun visiting nearby hospitals to identify victims.
