The Kaneshie Divisional Police Command has arrested two persons for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition following a patrol operation at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The suspects, identified as Kwame Boahen, 35, a pillion rider, and Fatau Alhassan, 52, an okada rider, were arrested on Saturday, 20 December 2025.

They were riding a Royal motorbike with a faded number plate when police intercepted them during a routine patrol.

The arrest followed an earlier incident on Friday, 19 December 2025, when a patrol team spotted the motorbike at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle and attempted to stop it for a routine check.

Upon noticing the police, the suspects reportedly abandoned the motorbike and attempted to flee but were arrested after a brief chase, despite resistance.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the retrieval of one pistol bearing the number 39363 with the inscription “CS HEAND SUH,” seventy-two rounds of ammunition, four mobile phones, an iPhone, an LG smartphone, a Blackberry phone and a keypad phone, as well as two wristwatches.

The suspects have been cautioned and are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.

The retrieved items have been retained as exhibits, while police work to trace the owners of the recovered mobile phones and establish the source of the firearm and ammunition.

The Accra Regional Police Command has urged the public to continue supporting police efforts by providing credible information to help combat crime and enhance public safety.
