Walewale: Two jailed 5 years each for stealing immigration officer’s pistol and ammunition

The Walewale Circuit Court has convicted two persons, Mustapha Basit,18, and Baba Rasid, 22, to five years imprisonment each with hard labour for stealing pistol and ammunition belonging to an Immigration Officer.

The two convicts were arraigned before the Walewale Circuit Court on Thursday, May 22, 2025, on conspiracy to steal and steal.

They pleaded guilty to the charges and the court presided by Justice Francis Asobayeri convicted them on their own plea.

According to police statement, the two convicts entered the room of the immigration officer at about 12 noon on Saturday, May 17, 2025 while he was away and stole a Smith and Wessonssen pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition as well as two CZ rifle magazines loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition each.

Police say processes are under way to take them to the Prisons to begin their sentences.
