The Ghana Police Service have arrested ten foreign nationals in connection with suspected cybercrime activities in Weija, a suburb of the capital, Accra.
The suspects, comprising Chinese and Malaysian were detained during a joint intelligence-led operation conducted by the Cybercrime Unit of the Ghana Police Service and officials from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
According to a police statement, the individuals are currently in custody and assisting with ongoing investigations.
Officers say more than 800 assorted mobile phones were seized during the operation, along with computers and multiple charging devices. All the equipment has been retained for forensic examination.
The police described the arrests as part of an intensified national effort to clamp down on organised cybercrime syndicates, some of which are suspected to operate from within residential neighbourhoods and commercial hubs.
