Eating the right food and feeding your body with certain foods may help boost your immune system.

Coronavirus has been declared a pandemic and we need to take measures to protect ourselves against the virus.

A strong Immune system will always fight against disease-causing microorganisms. A healthy immune system can defeat invading bacteria, viral infection and others.

According to Dr Oz, there are proactive steps we can take against coronavirus.

He revealed on TODAY’s Show that “you can boost your immune system with fruits and vegetables, vitamin D3 and a flu shot”.
He also said we should avoid shaking hands and touching your face and to wash your hands frequently.

Here are the lists of Immune System Boosters by Dr Oz’;

Fruits and Vegetables

Vegetables are loaded with vitamins and minerals. For example, spinach and broccoli are loaded with vitamins A, C, and E, broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables and can boost your immune system. Spinach is rich in vitamin c, packed with antioxidants and may help fight infections in the immune system. Other vegetables include red bell peppers, lettuce, carrots, kale, garlic, Brussels sprout, sweet potatoes, etc


Flu shot

Flu shot is an immunization given to protect against flu viruses; an influenza A (H1N1) virus, an influenza A (H3N2) virus, and an influenza B virus.

Zinc

Zinc is an essential nutrient and can be obtained through food or supplements. It promotes growth, DNA synthesis, immune function and more. Foods that are high in zinc includes eggs, meat, fish, legumes, dairy products, shellfish, whole grains and others.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C increases the production of white blood cells which helps in fighting infections. You can get vitamin C from citrus fruits including oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, lemons, limes, and clementines. Vitamin C supplements are also available at any drug store and very affordable.

Elderberry

Elderberry is a medicinal plant belonging to the Adoxaceae family. Elderberry refers to several different varieties of the Sambucus tree, which has clusters of white flowers and black or blue-black berries. It is also known as black elderberry or European elderberry. Elderberry is high in vitamin c, dietary fibre, antioxidants, and other nutritional benefits that help in fighting diseases.

-Drink a lot of water

-Exercise regularly

-Stop smoking

Preventive measures against coronavirus

-Disinfect surfaces

-Avoid handshaking and touching the face

-Wash your hands under running water

-Use alcohol-based sanitizers

Ensure that you’re taking preventive measures against COVID-19 by following the above-mentioned steps, observe personal hygiene, use hand sanitizers, avoid large gatherings and always remember to wash your hands under running water.
