Over 60 members of parliament from the minority side on Thursday visited the Nima office of the former Vice President to pledge their support to him in his bid to be the presidential candidate.

The visit comes as the NPP gears up for its presidential primaries, scheduled for January 31, 2026.

Among those who visited him are key party figures and ministers, including Mohammed Amin Adam, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Sammi Awuku, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, Habib Iddrisu, and Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah.

Speaking to the media, Bawumia expressed gratitude to the ''significant number of MPs'' for pledging their support for his bid to lead the party into the 2028 presidential elections.

"It was a courtesy call and a call to declare support for me. I am so happy in terms of the group that has declared support for me from Parliament."

So far, four prominent party figures have declared their intention to contest the flagbearer position: former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Minister for Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, and Minister for Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
