The Ghana Police Service has announced the deployment of 5,500 personnel to maintain peace and order during the Akwatia by-election scheduled for September 2.

Speaking at a press briefing at the Akwatia Police Station, COP Dr. Vance Baba Gariba, Director-General of Operations, said the constituency has been divided into nine security zones to ensure effective coverage.

He noted that the deployed officers have already familiarized themselves with the local community, while an additional 600 armed officers will conduct patrols to swiftly respond to any disturbances.
