Former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has officially announced his intention to contest the New Patriotic Party(NPP) flagbearership race.
According to him, he will pick forms when nominations are opened by the party.
He made his intentions known on his Facebook page on Tuesday, June 18.
In his post, Dr. Adutwum stated, “With humility, conviction, and a resolute heart, I, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, declare my intent to run for the Flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should nominations be officially opened by the party.”
This announcement by Dr Adutwum comes barely a day after the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) officially scheduled its presidential primary for Saturday, January 31, 2026.
He joins a growing list of prominent party stalwarts who have either declared intentions to contest for the NPP presidential slot ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Among the known figures are the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong; the former Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the Member of Parliament for Abetifi and former Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Bryan Acheampong.
