President Nana Akufo-Addo as shot himself in the arm by appointing 110 ministers and deputies if he intends to run for a second term in 2020, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Darko has stated.

President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday named four new ministers of state and 50 deputy ministers, his total list of ministers to 110 if all of them get approved.

The size of his government, the largest ever in the history of Ghana, has become a matter of public debate with many pointing out that, the number of ministers appointed was not in congruence with his promise to protect the public purse.

Speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen on Thursday, the Asuogyaman MP stated that with the large size of President Akufo-Addo's government, the NDC's campaign in 2020 has been markedly bolstered as their first message would be to promise to halve the size of Akufo-Addo's government.

"President Nana Akufo-Addo has given us our first campaign message for 2020. We'll promise to reduce the size of government by half", he suggested.

For him, the considering the population of Ghana, there was no justification for such a high number of appointments.

"It is senseless to have 110 ministers and deputies for this small nation", he stated.
