The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has strongly condemned alleged threats of death and acts of violence against some of its leaders by National Democratic Congress (NDC) officials.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, and signed by the General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP said threats were issued against Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, National Organiser Henry Nana Boakye, and MP for Nsawam-Adoagyiri Frank Annoh-Dompreh by the NDC’s First National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka, and Abuakwa North Constituency Communication Officer, Alhaji Abdul Wahab Amadu.
The party also condemned what it described as an “unprovoked physical attack” on its Third National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Osman Masawudu, by Chief Azorka and his alleged associates.
According to the NPP, such violent conduct undermines democratic gains and risks worsening insecurity in the country, especially in light of Ghana’s recent drop on the Global Peace Index.
The NPP disclosed that it will formally lodge complaints with the Ghana Police Service and urged the Inspector General of Police to arrest and investigate Chief Azorka, Alhaji Abdul Wahab, and others captured in viral videos linked to the incidents.
“The recklessness of the actions of Chief Sofo Azorka and Alhaji Abdul Wahab ought to be properly investigated and punished,” the statement emphasized.
