Former Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, has formally announced his intention to run for the role of National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a statement released on Saturday, October 25, Mr. Asamoah Boateng, widely known as Asabee, articulated his ambition to foster a more disciplined, united, and well-organised party that will prioritise the interests of Ghanaians.

“My fellow patriots, the moment has arrived for me to officially announce my candidacy for the National Chairman position of the NPP,” he remarked. “I have consistently been dedicated to the noble cause of the party, and I will ensure that we collaborate as a family to establish a structured NPP for the benefit of the people of Ghana.”

He further stated that his leadership would herald “a new era of discipline and structure within the NPP,” and he expressed his confidence in the party’s grassroots support for his vision.

Mr. Asamoah Boateng, a long-standing member of the NPP, has held various government and party roles in the past, including Minister for Information, Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Environment, as well as Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, among others.

His declaration paves the way for what is anticipated to be a highly competitive race for the NPP’s top national executive position.
