Vice President and running mate to President Mahama on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket, Kwesi Amissah-Arthur says the party will address and counter Dr. Bawumia’s fictitious claims about the economy in due time.
The Vice President who was speaking as the guest of honour at the NDC zone 1 campaign launch in Ashaiman opined “at the appropriate time we shall respond in full measure to the lies that have been told and we shall correct him and teach him the thing he does not know.â€
At the event, he also reacted to claims at the lecture that interest payment has exceeded capital expenditure noting “he said that interest payment have exceeded capital expenditure, even everybody knows that if you borrow money to pay for a road and it is going to take 10 years to pay for that road, every year you take 1/10th of the money and use it to pay that from the person you borrow the money from.â€
He further added “there is no way you will be paying interest on nothing at all, you only pay for projects you have borrowed for, so how can you say we pay interest more than capital expenditure, it is the capital expenditure’s money that we are paying as interest, so this one simple thing I do not know how people who are professors cannot understand the context, economic (experts) call it classification.â€Â
