The incarcerated Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman 'Wontumi', Â will be put before court today for the alleged assault of Manhyia North Member of Parliament., Collins Owusu Amankwaah.

Wontumi, who spent the night in the cells of the Kumasi Central Police Station, reported himself to the Police on Tuesday after he was declared wanted for assaulting the MP and and his constituency Secretary, Felix Ibrahim at Krofrom over a  disagreement concerning the ongoing Limited Voters registration exercise.
Many NPP supporters besieged the police station to demand his release yesterday.
