Ekumfi pineapple factory expected to employ 5000 workers

President Nana Akufo-Addo says the Ekumfi Pineapple factory commissioned under the One District One Factory policy will employ close to five thousand workers, directly and indirectly. 
The policy is a major campaign promise by the president ahead of the 2016 elections and he reiterated government’s commitment of creating the needed jobs at the various districts, to accelerate the industrial growth of the country. 
 
 
Speaking at a sod-cutting ceremony to commence what the government believes will be replicated across the country, Nana Akufo-Addo said his administration is working with industry players to ensure factories to be established under the policy are given the needed resources to ensure they function properly.

He said the Chinese government’s help has been sought for the needed equipment to be supplied to the various entities under the programme. The President said the time has come for Ghanaians to enjoy the needed prosperity his administration has promised. 
 
“Every district in Ghana abounds in raw materials and it is the vision of gov't to create economic growth poles.” 
He also used the occasion to  appeal for the unalloyed support of every Ghanaians and the financial organisations for the success of the concept.  In all, more than 80,000 direct and indirect jobs across 51 districts are expected to be created.
